Marian Hope Hampton Rettew, 93, of Leola, loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away on Friday, June 2, 2017 surrounded by her family at the Oak Leaf Manor. She was a retired postal clerk at the Leola Post Office, U.S.P.S. where she worked for almost 20 years.
Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Francis J. and Anna Marie Bare Hampton. Marian was married to the late Amos E. Rettew for 57 years. She and her husband were life-time members of the Salem Evangelical Reformed Church, Hellers. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Marsha L. Rettew Knosp, and longtime companion, Martin Kuhn.
After retiring, she volunteered at the Lancaster Blind Center where she read to the blind; worked part-time for Kitchen Kettle; worked at the Leola voting booths; and was active in many groups at her church.
Surviving are: a daughter, Peg S. Rettew-Cross married to Richard W. Cross, Lancaster; son-in-law, Robert L. Knosp, Reading; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and Donald Hampton. She will be lovingly missed by her family, but she is now in the loving embrace of her Lord.
Funeral Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Salem Evan. Ref. Church, Hellers, 2555 Horseshoe Rd., Lancaster. Interment: the adjoining cemetery. Viewing: 10-11 a.m. Tuesday.
