Marion R. Nilsen, 80, of Lancaster, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at Lancaster General Hospital.
Born in Staten Island, New York, she was the daughter of the late Ole and Ruth (Seeland) Simonsen.
She was a graduate of Hunter College, and was an elementary school teacher at Clove Valley Elementary School on Staten Island for 30 years, retiring in 1982.
Marion was an organist at Salem Evangelical Free Church and enjoyed honoring the Lord through her music.
She is survived by her husband Carl, children Carl J. of Flanders, NJ and Beth (David) Bjorkman of Leola, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brother Gordon (Norma) Simonsen of Edmonds, WA, and nephews Warren Simonsen of Menomonee Falls, WI, Glen Simonsen of Barrington, IL, and Paul Simonsen of Orrville, OH.
The funeral service will be held at Furman Home for Funerals, 59 W. Main St., Leola, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2014. Friends may call Friday from 7-9:00 PM and Saturday 10-11:00 AM at the funeral home. The burial will be at Witness Park Cemetery in Lititz.
