Mary Ann (Smith) Landis, age 82, passed away August 20th at Lancaster General Hospital following complications from a minor accident.
Mary Ann was born in Lancaster, PA, to the late Albert Smith and Esther Brendle Smith, wife of the late Jason Eckman. She graduated from Conestoga Valley High School in 1962, where she met her lifelong sweetheart, Jerry. Their love grew into a marriage of 61 years, a family, and a lifetime of memories.
After graduating from business school, Mary Ann began her career at The Hamilton Watch Company. In the 1970s, she began making and selling her macramé jewelry to local shops. Her creativity eventually led her to open The Olde Mill House Shoppes in 1976. This year, the shop is celebrating its 50th year.
She loved gardening, swimming, reading, spending winters in Florida, her cat Georgie, socializing with customers and gathering with family and friends. She had a wonderful way of making life fun and will be remembered for her laughter, her creativity, her love for others, and her strong faith.
In addition to her husband Mary Ann is survived by daughters Lisa Landis-Blowers (John) and Tina Ator (Jeff); grandsons Alex Blowers, Nick, J.J. and Sammy Ator; sister Betty Hanes and brother Dan Eckman.
Mary Ann leaves behind a lifetime of love, laughter, creativity, and memories. She will be deeply missed and forever loved. She often said she could not wait to get to heaven and finally meet her father, who was killed in World War II when she was just nine months old.
Private interment will be at Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held at Calvary Church 1051 Landis Valley Rd, Lancaster, Thursday, September 17 at 11am. Friends will be received from 9:30-11am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lighthouse Vocational Services, Aaron’s Acres, or the Calvary Church Benevolent Fund.
