     Mary E. Lefever, 92, died Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015, at The Mennonite Home in Lancaster. She was born in Bird-in-Hand, Pa., to the late Amos W. and Stella (Ranck) Weaver.

     Mary graduated from East Lampeter High School in 1940. She loved books and reading and worked at Provident Bookstore for over 20 years before retiring.  She was the church librarian for many years and helped set up the library at Woodcrest Villa, where she and Paul lived for 20 years. Mary taught Sunday School for many years at Mellinger Mennonite Church where she was a member all her married life. She had a great knowledge of the Bible and even taught classes after losing her eyesight around 1998.  She loved her family, and her grandchildren felt a special bond with her. She loved writing and painting and especially loved playing hymns on her piano in her retirement years.  She blessed many people who heard her playing.

     She was married for 71 years to Paul G. Lefever.   Also surviving are five children, Lois wife of Alfred Gascho, Tucson, AZ; Ernest husband of Vicky (Mayberry) Lefever, Lapeer, MI; Martha wife of Glenford Kauffman, Leola, PA; Vera wife of Lonny Jones, Willow Street, PA and Philip husband of Melanie (Rose) Lefever, Prescott, AZ; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren;  two sisters, Miriam Stoltzfus, Lititz, PA and Ellen Good, Albuquerque, NM.  One sister, Verna Rohrer, preceded her in death.

     Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 26th at 2 p.m. at Mellinger Mennonite Church, 1916 Lincoln Hwy East, Lancaster, PA, 17602 with greeting time at the church from 12:30 p.m. until time of service. Interment: Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery.
