Mary P. Smith

9/25/2022

Mary P. Smith, 74, of Leola, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 25, 2022. Born in Kingston, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Denis and Julia (Gulick) Rosnick and the adored wife of S. Rodman Smith for nearly 48 years.

Mary spent her career as a devoted and compassionate licensed practical nurse. Being a caregiver was her passion and she loved taking care of others. A faithful servant of the Lord, she attended Zion Lutheran Church in Leola, where she continued to grow in her faith with her church family and spent her time giving back to the community.

Mary was a loving daughter, wife, mother, sister, friend, and cousin. She cherished family time above all else, and she loved traveling with her husband and celebrating traditions and holidays with her children and the extended family. Her relationships always meant the world to her, from making memories with cousins growing up, to the fun and support she shared with neighbors when her children were young, to her lifelong friendships that spanned decades and continued getting stronger, even through the final moments of her life. Mary never stopped making new friends and creating communities, including those at church and with her workout friends later in life. Mary spread love to everyone she knew and her love will continue to spread through everyone she touched. The deep friendship and love Mary shared with her partner and husband, Rod, is an inspiration. Their love is infinite and eternal.

In addition to her husband, Mary will be missed by her adoring children, Jennifer Fox (wife of Keith Fox) of Charleston, SC; Evan Smith (partner of Cecilia Foxworthy) of New York, NY; two beautiful granddaughters, Taylor Fox and Courtney Fox of Charleston, SC; and brother Denis Rosnick (husband of Vennette Rosnick) of Gig Harbor, WA.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 18 Quarry Rd, Leola, PA, 17540. The family will receive guests at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Leola, PA or the Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute in Lancaster, PA. (Click links below)
