Melvin L. Sauder, 96, of Landis Homes, formerly of Bareville, Eden and East Earl, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 29, 2014. He was the loving husband of the late Ethel Mae Myer Sauder who died in 2004. Born in E. Earl, he was the son of the late George and Anna Rutt Sauder.
Mr. Sauder was a farmer, and later he was a woodworker at H. M. Stauffer Lumber Yard. After that, he was a custodian at CV School District and lastly at the Worship Center. He was a member of the Stumptown Mennonite Church where he had served as a Sunday School teacher and chorister.
Melvin will be lovingly missed by: his daughters, Jane married to Glenn Leaman, Brownstown, Sherlyn married to the Rev. Sam J. Smucker, Lancaster, Twila married to Lester Smoker, New Holland; 16 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; daughter-in-law, Miriam married to Roy Mentzer, New Holland; sisters, Virginia Hoover, Kathryn married to Eby Hershey, both Landis Homes. He was preceded in death by: his son, Ken Sauder; grandchildren, Roger Leaman and Christopher Smucker; sisters, Leila Zimmerman and Celestine Eberly.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014 at Landis Homes Bethany WEST Chapel, 1001 E. Oregon Rd., Lititz, PA 17543 with viewing there from 9 – 11 a.m. Interment: Stumptown Mennonite Cemetery. Memorials are welcomed to: Landis Homes Caring Fund c/o the above address.
