Merle Moberly, 64, died February 20, 2016 after a stubborn battle with a lengthy illness. He was the affectionate husband of Robin L. Kunkle Moberly, to whom he was married for a surprising 30 years. He was also the proud father of his son, Dylan.
Born in Colorado Springs, he was the son of the late Dulaney Moberly and Eva Chrisman.
Merle worked as a logger and a truck driver. He took pride in being a skilled, competent driver for Kerek Air Freight, Kemps Foods and Elixer Industries.
Merle was a one-of-a-kind guy. His wife called him her “pineapple” – rough on the outside and sweet on the inside. Merle had a cool sense of style; he could wear a hat like nobody’s business. He loved riding his HD, listening to live music and playing backgammon with his buddy Gerry. He was also willing to try new experiences by following his wife on her many whimsical adventures.
Merle will be missed by all of his friends and family, including his wife, Robin; his son, Dylan and daughter-in-law, Shauna Frey; his grandson, Miles; his sister, Diana Focht and husband, Bob Lane; his in-laws, Robert and Connie Kunkle, Bonnie and Nate Hoover, Bob Kunkle, Jr. and Jonine Carvel, Kevin Kunkle and Isaac Servance as well as many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be celebrating Merle’s life at a private gathering. Memorial contributions may be made in Merle’s memory to: Miles H. Moberly c/o Fulton Bank, 65 W. Main St., Leola, PA 17540 (a fund for his education).
