Minerva B. Gehman Nissley, age 93, of Landis Homes, formerly of Honey Brook and Morgantown, PA, peacefully left her earthly home surrounded by her family on December 22, 2014.
She was the daughter of the late Aaron and Hettie (Burkhart) Weaver. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Charles W. Gehman, who died in 1976 and Ira Nissley, who died in 2010; her sisters, Anna Mary Shirk, Mabel Mellinger; and brothers, Mark Weaver and Arthur Weaver as well as one step grandson.
Minerva had a true servant's heart always giving to others through her gift of hospitality. She enjoyed entertaining, baking, gardening, and caring for others in need.
She was a founding member of First Deaf/Witmer Heights Mennonite Church.
Minerva is lovingly missed by her children, Nelson (Phyllis Yoder) Gehman, Leola; Nancy (The Rev. John) Leaman, Bird-in-Hand; Sally (Randall) Martin, Ambler and five stepchildren, Gerard (Rhoda) Nissley, Elverson; Robert (Janelle) Nissley, Hungry Horse MT; John (Lois) Nissley, Findlay, OH; Louise (Art) Good, Kouts, IN; and Lynda (Daryl) Miller, Olathe, KS. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, 11 step grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and 23 step great-grandchildren.
The memorial service will be on Sunday, Dec. 28th at 2 p.m. at Stumptown Mennonite Church, 2813 Stumptown Road, Bird-in-Hand with a visitation from 1-2 p.m. Private interment: Weaverland (Brick) Mennonite Cemetery. The viewing will be Saturday evening, 6-8 p.m. at Stumptown Mennonite Church.
