Norman Glick, 82, of Smoketown, passed away, Friday, October 25, 2013, at Garden Spot Village. Born in Smoketown, he was the son of the late Jacob A. and Katie Smoker Glick.  He was married for 59 years to Mabel Lapp Glick.

 

He was a lifelong greenhouse grower who began working as a youth with his father at Glick’s Plant Farms in Smoketown.  He went on to co-found Ken’s Gardens with brother-in-law, Ken Lapp, in 1972 where he was actively involved for the rest of his life.  He was involved with the Witmer Fire Company for many years.  He was also an active member of Ridgeview Mennonite Church, Gordonville.

 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by:  3 children, Jim husband of Barbara Glick, Dennis husband of Laura Glick, both of Smoketown, Kathleen wife of Craig Trout of Lampeter; 5 grandchildren, Christopher, Laura, Emily and Tyler Glick, Phoenix Trout; 4 brothers, Melvin Glick husband of the late Erma Glick, John husband of Mary Glick, David husband of Susan Glick, all of Smoketown, Paul husband of Pinky Glick of Colorado; a sister, Edna wife of Leroy Beiler of Strasburg; sister-in-law, Maggie Glick wife of the late Jacob A. Glick, Jr. of Indiana.

 

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at 11 AM from the Ridgeview Mennonite Church 3723 Ridge Rd. Gordonville, PA.  Private interment will be in the adjoining cemetery.  Friends may call on Monday evening from 4 to 6 PM and 7 to 9 PM at the church.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Garden Spot Village Benevolent Fund 433 S. Kinzer Ave. New Holland, PA 17557.
