On Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024, Patricia A. “Pat” Cooper, age 92, formerly of Leacock PA, went Home to be with the Lord.  She knew her life was changing, so as a Christian, she prayed to God that she could die peacefully and He heard her.

Born in Leacock, PA (now Leola) she was the daughter of the late Lester K. and Anne Witmer Cooper.  She was a life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church, Leola.  In 1949 she graduated from Upper Leacock High School and in 1953 from West Chester State Teacher’s College.  Her first job (possibly non-paying!) was working in the family business, Cooper’s Bakery but for 33 years she loved teaching elementary children in the Manheim Township and Conestoga Valley school districts.

Pat’s interests included traveling, Phillies Baseball, volunteering at the Lancaster Fulton Theater and Historic Downtown Walking Tour, making friends, cats and more cats.  She was drawn to people with a sense of humor and those who could laugh at themselves.

She is survived by a niece Elizabeth Cooper Grumbine (Robert) of New Holland and a nephew Scott M. Cooper (Crystal) of Grenada.  She was preceded in death by her brother Robert W. Cooper.

Pat moved to Brethren Village in 2016 and truly enjoyed her time there.  We extend a special thanks to the staff, especially Anita and Daniel and Covenant Home Care.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, at Zion Lutheran Church, 18 Quarry Road, Leola, PA 17540.  Visitation will be at 12pm and following the service.  Interment will be private in Salem Heller’s Cemetery.

Please omit flowers.  If desired, contributions can be made to Brethren Village Benevolent Fund, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA  17543 or Zion Lutheran Church.
