Paul Stephen Hurlburt, 58, of Manheim, PA, passed away at home on December 31, 2018. Born on January 23, 1960, in Boston, MA, and raised in upstate, NY, Paul was the son of Paul B. and Jacqueline Hurlburt.
Paul was a gifted pianist, singer, and songwriter who began composing tunes when he was a boy. With an uncanny ear for musical talent, his family remembers him bringing home the first records of Elton John, Billy Joel, Neil Young, and Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) and correctly predicting their future superstardom. A competitive and talented athlete, Paul played varsity tennis in high school and carried a 220+ average in bowling. Highly intelligent and quick-witted, Paul obtained a degree in computer science and most recently worked as a substitute teacher in various Lancaster County public schools. He was an avid Red Sox, Patriots, and Celtics fan. He loved animals and children and always had a tender heart for those who were suffering.
Paul will be lovingly missed and remembered by his parents; sisters Karin and Kristin and their spouses; niece Abigail; nephew Kyle; Uncle Jonathan and Aunt Kathryn Springer; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by grandparents Jonathan and Yvonne Springer, Benoit and Rose Hurlburt, and aunts Joan M. Springer and Rita B. Wallace.
A private memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105 or Food For The Poor, Inc., 6401 Lyons Road, Coconut Creek, FL 33073.
