R. Elaine Jackson, 92, loving wife and mother, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024. Born in East Orange, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert J. and Ruth Jessie (Borland) Elston. Elaine was living in Garden Spot Village, New Holland, PA and previously lived in Ephrata, Leola and Fenwick Island, DE.
Elaine was a Registered Nurse, graduating from East Orange General Hospital in 1955. Elaine was employed for many years as a Nurse in the Practice of Joseph Knepper, MD in Leola. She served as a volunteer with Leola Ambulance. She was an avid photographer with focus of wild flowers and loved counted cross stitching. She greatly enjoyed researching the genealogy of the Jackson and Elston families. Elaine also enjoyed spending summers at the Delaware beach with her family. Elaine was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Leola and attended Ocean View Presbyterian Church in Ocean View, Delaware.
Elaine will be lovingly missed by her husband, S. Robert Jackson, with whom she shared 68 wonderful years of marriage; two children, Robert Scott married to Margaret (Conroy) Jackson, Collegeville PA, and Margaret married to Eric Gilbert, Willow Street PA; grandchildren, Thomas Jackson married to Karina, Madeline Jackson, Kaitlyn married to Alex Hampel, and Colleen Gilbert; her great-granddaughter, Isabel. She was preceded in death by a brother, Gilbert Stanley Elston.
Funeral Services will be on Friday, Apr. 26, 2024 at 2 p.m. from the Furman Home for Funerals, 59 W. Main St., Leola PA with viewing from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. Memorials are welcomed to the Ocean View Presbyterian Church, 67 Central Avenue, Ocean View, DE 19970.
