Randy Scott Kuenzli, born April 14th 1959, went home to be with the lord, peacefully at his home in Edmonston, MD on April 24th 2022. Born in Lancaster, Randy attended Milton Hershey School and J.P. McCaskey High School where he graduated in 1977.
Randy devoted his life to emergency services. He was a member of the Southern Manheim Township Fire Company serving in many positions including Fire Chief. Randy volunteered at the Eden Fire Company also, where he achieved the position of Captain. During his years at Eden, he oversaw the fire explorer program. Not only did he have a passion for the fire service, he enjoyed sharing that passion with newer members. Many of those that had the opportunity to be an explorer in that program have gone on to have extremely successful careers in emergency services fields and they credit Randy for the passion that was shared with them many years ago. He also served with the Manheim Twp. Ambulance association and held full time employment for a time as a 911 dispatcher for Lancaster County Wide Communications.
Randy moved to Prince George’s Co. MD where he spent much of the remainder of his life. He was a member of the Riverdale fire dept for a short time before moving in to the Bladensburg fire dept where he spent the remainder of his fire service career. Randy held many positions within the fire dept including Fire Chief for many years, as well as county level positions as a volunteer division chief and a member of the county fire commission.
Randy held several jobs over the years including the operations manager at a private EMS agency and a Codes Enforcement Officer before retirement.
He found joy and happiness at the beach where he was able to live for a brief time in Atlantic Beach, NC. His heart also had a special place for animals, in particular dogs. After having Childhood pets Buttons and Buttons 2, he couldn’t say no to the members of Bladensburg to have a firehouse dog. Over the years, Henry, Shelby and now Miles lived spoiled lives in the firehouse because of his love for them.
Randy is preceded in death by is parents Ernest & Zelda (Sparks) Kuenzli and his older brother Ernest J. Kuenzli.
Randy leaves behind a Sister in law Anne (Hunsecker) Kuenzli, two nieces, Adriane Kuenzli, Gretchen (Boian) and her husband Chase, A nephew, Stefan Kuenzli and his wife Tara (Hostetter) great nieces and Nephews, Alana, Trevor, Austin, Rylea, Damian, Brayden, and Quinten.
