Rebecca R. Herr, 84, formerly of Lancaster, passed away, Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Landis Homes. Born in Manor Twp., she was the daughter of the late John Heller and Mable Rohrer Herr.
Rebecca was a registered nurse who worked as a missionary in Honduras for 12 years and Community Health Nursing for 20 years. She was a member of East Chestnut Street Mennonite Church where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the sewing circle. She loved to quilt for the Mennonite Central Committee and Landis Homes.
Surviving are: a brother, John R. married to Joanne S. Herr of New Providence; two sisters-in-law, Connie W. Herr of Vero Beach, FL, Ellen Herr of Jenkintown; and many nieces and nephews, great, and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, David and Clyde Herr.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 12, 2016 at 2 PM from the Landis Homes West Bethany Chapel 1001 E. Oregon Rd., Lititz, PA 17543. The family will visit with friends at the chapel from 1 to 2 PM on Friday. Private interment will be in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery. If desired, contributions may be made to the Landis Homes Caring Fund.
