Reuben G. Smucker, 90, formerly of New Holland, PA, went home to be with the Lord peacefully March 11, 2014 with family by his side in Sarasota, FL. Born in New Holland, PA, he was the son of the late Eli and Lydia Smucker. He will be lovingly missed by his caring wife of 67 years, Mary Petersheim Smucker.
He is survived by three sons, John (Ruth) Smucker, Reuben (Sue) Smucker, both of Tennessee, Elmer (Anna) Smucker of Texas and three daughters, Sadie (Omar) Stoltzfus of Texas, Leah (Ben) Fisher of Gap, PA, and Lydia Ruth (Amos) Allgyer of Millerstown, PA. He was a faithful member of Sarasota Mennonite Church, Sarasota, FL. In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by 40 grandchildren and 120 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Abner (Sadie) Smucker, Eli (Annie) Smucker, David (Susie) Smucker and five sisters, Lydia Esh, Naomi Esh, Susie (Dan) Dienner, Katie (John) Stoltzfus, Sadie (Mose) Lapp; and three sisters-in-law, Sadie, Elizabeth, and Malinda Smucker. He was preceded in death by three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four brothers, Jacob, John, Leroy, and Amos Smucker and four sisters, Annie Smucker, Amanda King, Leah Esh, and Mary Esh.
The viewing will be Friday, March 14, 2014 from 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm at West Haven Amish Mennonite Church, 837 Peters Road, New Holland, PA. The funeral will be Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 10:00 am at West Haven Amish Mennonite Church. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Kindly omit flowers.
