     Ross Morrison, Sr., 100, of Eden went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 12, 2024.

     He was born in Martinton, Illinois on March 15, 1923. Ross enlisted in the Army on March 1943 he was called to active duty. He was sent to the University of Kansas for training.  It was there he married Benetta Bartz in 1944.  Ross Ivan Jr. was born on March 11, 1946.  Benetta passed away on August 1, 1948.

     Through Theodore Epp’s ministry he realized his need to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior and took that step of faith.

     While attending Atlanta Bible Institute, Ross met June Ditzell. They were married on July 7, 1951 and celebrated 72 years of marriage last summer. God blessed them with five more children, nineteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren.  

     Ross taught in Kansas, Arkansas, New York, Kentucky, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. Ross taught in Lancaster from 1964 to 1985 with most of those years at Buehrle Elementary school. He wrote a number of books including “It Happened in Lancaster County.” He graduated from Millersville with a master’s degree.  Ross loved to play softball and pitched until he was 65.  He also enjoyed working in his garden until he was 99.

     Ross and June are members of Calvary Church.  Ross served as treasurer, Sunday school teacher and elder.  After he retired Ross and June served three short-terms in Africa and with small congregations in US.

     His is survived by his wife, June, of Lancaster; his children, Ross (Donna) Morrison, Jr. of Farmington MN, Philip (Janice) Morrison of New Holland, Mark (Barbara) Morrison of Lancaster, Elisabeth (Thomas) Barshinger of Hellertown, Timothy (Elizabeth) Morrison of Ephrata, and Thomas (Paula) Morrison of Akron.

     A memorial service will be held in the chapel at Calvary Church, 1051 Landis Valley Road, Lancaster, PA on Friday, January 19 at 11 AM.
