Reynold “Ren" L. Zimmerman, age 56 years, of Ephrata, died unexpectedly Sunday, May 24, 2015.

Reynold was the husband of Ruth “Ruthie" S. (Groff) Zimmerman; they would have celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary on June 17. He was the son of G. Harold and Irene S. (Frankhouser) Zimmerman, Garden Spot Village, New Holland, formerly of Akron, PA.

He will also be sorely missed by his sisters Cynthia, wife of Camille Rouvre, Akron, Brenda wife of Kevin Murphy, Ephrata, and his brother Nelson, husband of Elaine (Engle) Zimmerman, Denver, as well as his eight nieces and nephews and six great nieces and nephews.

He was a 1976 graduate of Lancaster Mennonite High School. While in high school, he was a volunteer member of the Ephrata Ambulance with his father and worked alongside his grandfather, the late Christian Zimmerman, at Horning Chair Shop.

Following high school he served one year in voluntary service in Philadelphia, PA. His career as a contractor included the company of E-Z Home Builders, Inc. with the late Irvin Enck and most recently being a property manager of rental properties. His wealth of expertise in facility management and systems was valued by his church and many other organizations and individuals.

Reynold was an active participant of Groffdale Mennonite Church. His passion was volunteering with Mennonite Disaster Service, where he worked on projects in Alabama, Alaska, Colorado, Louisiana, New York, North Dakotaand Texas.

If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Mennonite Disaster Service, 583 Airport Road, Lititz, PA  17543.

Two times are planned for friends to meet the family: 1) Saturday, May 30, 6:00-8:00 p.m. and 2) Sunday, May 31, 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Groffdale Mennonite Church, 168 North Groffdale Road, Leola, PA 17540. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. at the church on Sunday. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
