Richard G. Valentine, 88, of Lititz, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, February 12, 2016 at the VA Hospice Unit in Lebanon.  He was the husband of Virginia Carol (Zablocky) Valentine with whom he celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary on August 21, 2015.  He was born in Bellport, Long Island, NY, son of the late Thomas and Evelyn (Herne) Valentine.  He was a member of New Beginnings Brethren in Christ Church in Ephrata.

He was a Sherriff at the Suffolk Co. Prison, Riverhead, Long Island, NY and changed his career to work at Northville Industries, Riverhead, Long Island, NY until his retirement.  Upon moving to Lancaster Co., he also worked at Garden Spot Auto Auction in Ephrata. He loved to be on or near the water, whether it was on a boat or sitting on a dock.  He loved to fish, crab, and dig for clams.  He also loved to hunt for duck, geese or quail and always had his hunting dogs with him.  We will always remember him with his dry sense of humor and his beautiful blue eyes.

Surviving in addition to his wife are: one daughter, Christina Carol (Valentine) Arthur, Oxford; one son, Richard George (Allyson S.) Valentine, Newport; five grandchildren, David Arthur, Ellie Arthur, Briana Valentine, Olivia Valentine; Fred (Renee) Hunt; one great-grandson, Joshua Hunt.  He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Christine Valentine.

A Memorial Service will be held at the New Beginnings Church, 409 N. State St., Ephrata, PA on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at 3 PM with Pastor Joseph Hyatt officiating.  The family will receive guests at the church immediately following the service with a light meal.  A private interment will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Mount Joy, at a later date.
