Robert R. Pebly, 87 of Leola, passed away peacefully at the home of his son on Monday, April 10, 2017. Born in Sharon, PA, he was the son of the late Harry and Esther Roth Pebly. He was the loving husband of Jane Platts Pebly who died on March 19, 2017. They were married 56 years last September.
Bob graduated from Penn State with a B.A. in Mathematics in 1952. Bob worked for Metropolitan Life in New York City where he met his wife Jane. After a few years in Gillette, New Jersey, they settled in Leola, PA in 1969. Bob was an actuary and then corporate secretary for Educators Mutual Life Insurance Co, Lancaster. Mr. Pebly served his country in the U.S. Air Force where he was a 2nd Lieutenant. Bob was also an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Leola and sang in the church choir. He was an avid Penn State fan, bicyclist, and gardener.
He will be lovingly missed by: his son, Bob, husband of Melissa Pebly, and their children, Kaitlyn, Daniel, and Brian of Beaverton, OR; his son, Steve, husband of Jennifer Pebly, and their children, Lydia, Caleb, Paul James, and Dasha of Avondale, PA; and sister, Ruth wife of the late Alex Dyll, Sharpsville, PA. He was preceded in death by siblings, Esther and Harry Jr.
Interment Services of ashes in St. James Episcopal Cemetery, 3768 Germantown Pike, Collegeville will be held on Saturday, May 13th, 2017 at 1 p.m. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Zion Lutheran Church Benevolence Fund (Helping Hands fund), 18 Quarry Rd, Leola, PA 17540, would be appreciated.
