Ruth A. Groff, 80, of Akron, PA, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2026. She was born in Lancaster, PA, to Edward Bouder, Sr. and Lillian G. Leonard.
Ruth will be remembered for her friendly greetings, humorous observations and infectious laugh. She was a daycare worker in Leola, PA, for many years, caring for multiple generations in her community. Ruth enjoyed some of life’s simple pleasures, including playing cards and bingo, bird watching (and whistling – she sounded just like them), and dining out with friends and family (especially at Red Lobster).
She is survived by her children, Wayne Groff (Jen), Lance Groff (Katie), Mark Groff (Shauna) and Tracey Miller (Kevin). Ruth was preceded in death by her first husband, Ronald Dissinger, and second husband (of 36 years), Harry S. Groff. Her legacy includes 7 grandchildren: Theresa, Mitchell, Blake, Katie, Matthew, Amanda and Cole.
There will not be a memorial service. Her family is grateful for the kindness and support shown during this time. In honor of Ruth’s life and the care she received, any donations made to Hospice and Community Care of Lancaster would be appreciated.
