     Ruth Beck Denlinger Buckwalter, of Smoketown, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 30, 2014, just weeks before her 95th birthday. She was the daughter of the late Harry and C. Mae Clark Beck. Ruth married the late Earl B. Denlinger in 1940 and the late Elmer Buckwalter in 1981. She treasured the companionship of Harlan Collins, who brightened the final years of her life.

    Ruth took great pride in her service with the United Methodist Women and Bird-in-Hand United Methodist Church, where she was the oldest and longest serving member. She retired from Smoketown Elementary School, where she enjoyed cooking for the students in the cafeteria. Ruth will be best remembered for her baked goods and quick wit.

    Ruth was preceded in death by grandson Rob Denlinger and a brother Roy C. Beck. She is survived by a daughter, Jane Spangler, wife of the late Jack Spangler, and son Robert E. Denlinger, husband of Margie Denlinger. Ruth has four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. Also surviving is a brother, Robert H. husband of Dorothy Beck.

    The funeral will be held on Friday, September 5, 2014 at 10:30 AM at Bird-in-Hand United Methodist Church, 2620 Old Philadelphia Pike, Bird-in-Hand. Friends may call, Friday from 9-10:30 AM, at the church. The interment will be in the adjoining cemetery.
