Ruth McCauley

1/1/2013

Ruth E. McCauley, 93, of Lancaster, departed this world on Tuesday morning, January 1, 2013 and arrived in the waiting arms of her Lord and Savior. Ruth was the daughter of the late Harold and Edna Hoover Krick of Bard’s Crossing, Leola, PA. She was a long time resident of Rossmere, living there 65 years. As a young girl, she worked in various garment factories in Leola, Ephrata and New Holland. After raising her three children she worked for the Office of Aging and later the Department of Public Welfare for nine years. Ruth enjoyed many hours working in her flower garden. Summer would find her, in the early morning hours, coffee cup in hand, on her front porch. Ruth loved to sing and play the piano. Crossword puzzles and lunch with friends always kept her busy. Her favorite thing was spending lots of time with her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Ruth was a very caring person, always ready to help anyone in need. She always thought of and gave to others. She loved and cared for her son, John. They spent many days going on bus rides and visiting Central Market. Ruth is survived by: daughter, Verna McCauley, Lancaster; son, John McCauley, Mountville; and daughter, Eileen (Tom, III) Daily, Willow Street; grandchildren, Tom Daily IV (Tria) and Kristy Rhodes; greatgrandchildren, Tom Daily V, Lexi Daily and Sophia Rhodes; also a sister, Dorothy Shaub, Lititz; and niece and nephew, Linda and James. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to “all” the staff at Manor- Care for the thoughtfulness and unanticipated acts and words of kindness and love that were given to them and Ruth. Also, the Hospice team was always there for Ruth and family, always doing, saying and providing the comforting things that were needed. Please omit flowers. Remembrances may be made in Ruth’s memory to Hospice and Community Care, PO Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604- 4125 or the charity of one’s choice. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 from the Furman Home for Funerals, 59 W. Main St., Leola with interment following in Trumbauer Memorial Cemetery, Leola. Viewing: 1-2 p.m. Saturday.
