Shirley A. Mellinger, 80, of Lancaster, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 3, 2015 after complications from a stroke. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Margurite Sheaffer Peterman. She was the loving wife of Jesse K. Mellinger Jr. They observed their 62nd wedding anniversary last August.
A homemaker, Mrs. Mellinger was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan, and she enjoyed baking and cooking. She will also be missed by her children: Donna married to Claude Kurtz, Jesse Mellinger III, both Lancaster, Steven married to Pamela Mellinger, Mount Joy; four grandchildren, Eric and Kevin Kurtz, Jennifer Rivera and Heather Rhoads; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Edward Peterman, Mount Joy. Her sisters, Dorothy Sultzbach and Doris Worrell preceded her in death.
There will be no public viewing; however, family and friends are invited to attend her Graveside Service at the Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery, Greenfield Road & Lincoln Hwy East, Lancaster on Monday, July 6, 2015 at 2 p.m. Kindly omit flowers. Memorials are welcomed to the charity of one’s choice.
