The Rev. Fred R. Landis, 75, of Lancaster, formerly of Lititz and the Pocono area passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2015 at home. He was the loving husband of the late Audrey Swift Landis who died in 2001. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Ira K. and G. Emeline Mellinger Landis.
Pastor Landis was a graduate of the former Upper Leacock High School, Franklin and Marshall College and the Lancaster Theological Seminary. A United Methodist Pastor and Ordained Elder, he served at a number of the Methodist churches including Brunnerville United Methodist, Cherry Valley U.M. and West Grove U.M. He was a head usher at the Fulton Opera House and the Ephrata Performing Arts Center; music director at Pocono Plateau; past chaplain at Ephrata Hospital; an officer for the Upper Leacock Alumni Association; and Patient Partner with Wellspan PCMH. He loved music, singing and playing the piano.
He will be lovingly missed by his three daughters: Hope married to William Bradley, Westminster, MA, Beth married to Scott Kimbel, Denver, PA, Jill married to Alexander Matolyak, Mechanicsburg, PA; eight grandchildren, Ian, Evan, Aidan, Kylee, Bryce, Landis, Benjamin and Nicholas; sister, Mary married to David Clinton, Leola; three nieces.
The funeral will be Monday, Feb. 23, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Brunnerville United Methodist Church, 517 Pine Hill Road, Lititz. Interment: Brunnerville U.M. Cemetery. Greeting time with the family: Sunday, 6-8 p.m. at Furman Home for Funerals, 59 W. Main St., Leola and Monday 10-11 a.m. at the church.
