William J. “Willie" Harting, 45, of Leola, entered into rest Sunday, June 1, 2014 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late David W. Sr. and Shirley Sload Harting. He was the loving husband of Dorothy Sheaffer Harting. They were married on Jan. 17, 2014.
Willie was a counter person at Sid Harvey Industries, Lancaster for 27 years. A nurturing person, he cherished caring for his father. An avid Steelers fan, he loved trips to the mountains, snowmobiling, four wheeling and riding his Harley.
He will be lovingly missed by his wife Dorothy; two step-children, James R. Kline, at home, Tammy wife of Nick Sims, Lancaster; three step-grandchildren; brothers, David Jr. husband of Christine Harting, Brownstown, Charles husband of Gena Harting, Lancaster; five nieces and nephews; a godchild, Cole L. Boyer.
The funeral will be Thursday, June 5, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Furman Home for Funerals, 59 W. Main St., Leola with viewing from noon to 1 p.m. Interment: Conestoga Memorial Park, Lancaster.
